Social Distance on a Private Island for only $500/night!

The pandemic has us feeling some pretty serious cabin fever. I have daydreamed about being on a tropical private island surrounded by palm trees and turquoise water – wait, it is actually possible!

Kanu Island

Situated only 15 minutes off the coast of Placencia, Belize sits a rare coral private island called Kanu. Kanu’s 2.5 acres ensures privacy with five 1,000-square-foot villas, each containing a breezily chic master bedroom suite, high bamboo ceilings, huge resort bathrooms with outdoor showers, and lovely custom local furniture. Some villas also have large soaking tubs and one has a loft for kids.

At the centre of the private island is the huge palm-thatched central area that contains the living room, dining room, large bar and kitchen flanked by the large in-ground freshwater swimming pool complete with swim-up bar. The soothing design palette incorporates coral stone and amazing rosewood flooring, complemented with accent shades of the sea and sun. Its white sandy beach slopes gently into the Caribbean Sea.

That’s enough space for 10 kids and 10 adults (the maximum occupancy), making it pretty perfect for a multi-family vacation. As part of the all-inclusive rate for a week’s stay (advertised on their site), your crew will arrive by a quick 15-minute private boat ride—this is your life now, alright?—or even a local flight, and enjoy free meals prepared by a private chef and drinks made with local ingredients, not to mention multiple complimentary massages.

Your best bet is to go with a group and divide the USD 4,305 per night for the exclusive use of the entire island (based on double occupancy) for a 7+ night stay  (includes all taxes and booking fees).

Another option is a 4-6 night stay. The cost is USD 4,635 per night.

If you’re looking for a weekend jaunt, they offer the minimum 4-night stay option.
