Each host city brought something unique to the table, enticing visitors with visions of turquoise waters, lively neighbourhoods, and unforgettable experiences.

Miami is a city that needs no introduction, but it’s so much more than its world-renowned beaches. While South Beach often steals the spotlight with its glamorous Art Deco buildings and electric nightlife, Greater Miami offers a vibrant mix of culture, nature, and culinary delights.

  • Art and Culture: Miami’s Wynwood Walls is an open-air gallery showcasing world-class street art. The Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) and the Bass Museum are must-visits for contemporary art lovers.
  • Culinary Scene: Miami’s food culture is a melting pot of influences—Cuban, Caribbean, Latin American, and beyond. A cafecito at a Cuban café or a night at one of Miami’s Michelin-starred restaurants is a must.
  • Outdoor Adventures: Biscayne Bay is ideal for paddleboarding and boating, while nearby Everglades National Park offers airboat rides and encounters with unique wildlife.

From its iconic pastel sunsets to its thriving cultural districts, Miami is as diverse and dynamic as it gets.

2. Orlando

Orlando might be synonymous with theme parks, but it’s so much more than the “Theme Park Capital of the World.” This central Florida city delivers family fun, outdoor recreation, and a growing cultural scene.

  • Theme Parks: Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, and SeaWorld are magical playgrounds for kids and kids-at-heart. But beyond the parks, Orlando has nature trails, eco-tours, and beautiful lakes waiting to be explored.
  • Dining and Nightlife: The city’s culinary scene is thriving, with food halls, chef-driven restaurants, and eclectic international eats. Downtown Orlando and International Drive offer vibrant nightlife options, from speakeasies to rooftop bars.
  • Arts and Culture: The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts hosts Broadway-style shows and world-class performances, while the Orlando Museum of Art showcases stunning collections.

Whether you’re chasing thrills or soaking in relaxation, Orlando surprises visitors with its diversity.

3. Pensacola

Located in Florida’s northwest panhandle, Pensacola is a gem where Southern charm meets pristine beaches. Known as “The Way to Beach,” it’s a destination for relaxation, history, and stunning natural beauty.

  • The Beaches: Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key offer sugar-white sands and crystal-clear waters. It’s a serene alternative to the busier beaches further south.
  • Historic Charm: Pensacola is one of the oldest settlements in the U.S., and its Historic Downtown features charming streets, vibrant murals, and excellent dining options.
  • Outdoor Fun: Kayaking, sailing, and hiking are just a few of the outdoor activities here. Plus, the nearby Gulf Islands National Seashore is a paradise for nature lovers.
  • Family-Friendly: Don’t miss the National Naval Aviation Museum, home to fascinating aircraft displays and the famous Blue Angels.

Pensacola blends small-town charm with breathtaking coastal views—perfect for a laid-back escape.

For those seeking the perfect blend of culture, beaches, and sunshine, St. Pete/Clearwater is a must-visit. Nestled on Florida’s Gulf Coast, it boasts award-winning beaches and a thriving arts scene.

  • World-Class Beaches: Clearwater Beach consistently ranks as one of America’s best beaches. St. Pete Beach, with its soft sand and turquoise waters, is equally stunning.
  • Art and Culture: St. Pete is home to the Salvador Dalí Museum, a tribute to the legendary surrealist artist. The city’s murals and art galleries also showcase its creative spirit.
  • Outdoor Activities: Explore the nearby parks, take a dolphin-watching cruise, or cycle along the scenic Pinellas Trail.
  • Vibrant Downtown: St. Pete’s downtown is alive with craft breweries, local restaurants, and waterfront views. The nightlife here is laid-back but lively.

St. Pete/Clearwater offers that quintessential Florida experience—beaches, sunshine, and a touch of culture.

The Visit Florida pop-up in the Distillery District’s Winter Village is a delightful escape from Toronto’s cold, offering a glimpse into the warmth and magic of Florida. If you’re looking for inspiration for your next getaway, I highly recommend stopping by the pop-up. Snowbird season is in effect!
